Step 1
Preparations: remove any existing stair covering.
Always work from top to bottom when renovating staircases.
Step 2
Cleaning: Ensure the stairs are clean and dust-free.
Step 3a
Measuring and sawing: Measure the tread sizes using a ‘stair spider’.
Attention: Measure each tread individually as they are all different.
Step 3b
Number the cover treads to correspond with the actual treads on the staircase.
Step 3c
Copy the shape of the stair spider onto the cover tread.
Step 3d
Saw the cover treads to size.
Step 4
Fitting the cover treads Apply meandering strips of Poly Max® to the stairs.
Allow 5 cm space between the strips to prevent creating hollows.
Step 5
Position the cover tread onto the tread then press down firmly.
Step 6a
Apply Poly Max® Express to the risers.
Put the riser between two cover treads and press firmly into place. First place the riser without adhesive to check the dimensions. You can use a suction cup to remove it again.
Step 6b
The treads can be used again after 30 minutes.
Step 7
Sealing the staircase: Work from a corner with the slanting side of the nozzle pointing downwards.
If necessary, use a new nozzle for the correct diameter.
Step 8
Immerse the Bison Multi Tool in soapy water.
Use a plant sprayer with soapy water to moisten longer sections of sealant.
Step 9
Smooth off the sealant seam within 10 minutes using the Multi Tool.
Use the Bison Multi Tool with the concave side up so that the excess sealant is collected.
Step 10
Admire the result!
